Our CEO's Story

It had been happening for years. Like many other consultants and trainers, I was continually amazed by the constant challenge of retaining and motivating effective sales forces. Small enterprises and Fortune 500 organizations, whatever the industry sector… every company was facing the same challenge.

It didn't seem to matter which training program they used, the revolving door syndrome persisted. And this sales problem costs companies far more than they ever publish. A major document solution company, for example, spends over $100,000 to develop each new rep. Their turnover? Closing in on 70%. Their greatest challenge? Empty territories.

I was intrigued. Sales performance is truly the heart and lifeblood of business, but 15 years of consulting told me that traditional training methods were just not working. Pen-and-paper systems and classroom rote did not have any measurable fast and long-term impact. There had to be a better way.

So I embarked on a journey of research and discovery. With Wayne Gretzky's voice echoing in my mind: “I skate to where the puck is going”, I examined the forces driving business results. Tomorrow's industry leaders need a keen focus on sustainability, affordability and measurable results.

The next generation of sales training called for evidence-based curriculum. It needed a learning system that parallels today's business drivers. It demanded a protocol that gives the profession the regard it deserves.

I brought together thought leaders in sales, learning theory, neuroscience and technology to design an interactive, game-based sales training system to address these needs. With 10 years of identifying and developing best practices in sales, with extensive research and with several million dollars of investment, Momentium was conceived.
